Thanksgiving in Nodak

The kids were excited to see snow for the first time this year.

A wee snowman from Chloe I put in my mom's freezer

When my mom was in the hospital at the beginning of the week, guests were supposed to wear a mask and cover-up while visiting. My brother knew we were having ribs (Famous Dave's) for Thanksgiving and decided to save a special "bib" for one of his sisters.

Below is what happens when someone falls asleep with most of the family sitting in the living room--post-it notes on the glasses followed by my brother just happening to test the smoke alarm.
My brother brought the set game to play, but had to alter the cards in order for everyone to play. Whoever thought of the game apparently didn't think of colorblind people then they were making it. If you click on the picture of the guy in the glasses, those are remnants of the altered cards on his face. There's also a behind-the-scenes picture of me in 7th grade (with the red bow--apparently going for the sailor look).

Am so thankful for the time I got to spend with my mom! She just got out of the hospital the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. She was still pretty deconditioned from spending 10 days in the hospital and didn't want to go anywhere. We had a family day on Thanksgiving minus a few members, and then my husband and I got to spend some quality time on Friday alone with my mom. Then on Saturday our wonderful friends drove us back to Kansas!

p.s. Yes, we STILL adore the kids, even after the long car trip! Thanks for sharing your family with us!

p.p.s. I didn't post all the pictures of the family (I love them all equally), but if you'd like to look some are in my flickr account. Due to my husband's wishes, I put the ones with him in as "private" or "friends only".
