Dracunculus vulgaris

This is my most exotic plant . It's called dragon plant or voodoo lily. It gives off a not-so-pleasant fragrance. I have one friend who just loves it and know of someone else who has pulled her's out of the ground, not being at all impressed and not tolerating the smell. Mine's just fine right by my compost bin.

I forgot to mention that it's a bulb and only blooms in the beginning of June. Then the whole thing slowly fades away. Melanie says she hasn't smelled it in her yard...either she's telling the truth or just being nice.

It has a sweet-rotten smell.

I experienced one of these bursting forth from my yard! I was scared of it. It reminded me of the evil plant from 'Little Shop of Horrors'. It truly freaked me out, I thought for sure it came from another planet and that at night it would come alive and swallow up my children. Brian pulled it out...

Kim...can you PLEASE tell me where to find the Voodoo Lily? I bought one years ago at the Philadelphia Flower Show and have since moved from the home where I planted it. I am having no luck finding a replacement! Please help! Thanks...Jenn in Jersey!
