My 8 year old son found a beautiful caterpillar and put it in a jar with grass, twigs, leaves, etc. It ate and ate and ate and finally made his cocoon. We waited...and waited. The day finally came when he emerged. It was a plain ol' ugly moth. We were a little disappointed. :)

There's only one way to grow while making art: take risks and allow yourself to make a lot of bad work, then look at it. I consider what is working well, what missed the mark or confused the reading, what needs to be adjusted on the next one. --Linda Arbuckle in The Penland Book of Ceramics
All great actions have been simple, and all great pictures are. --Ralph Waldo Emerson
Almost all photos are my property (even the bad ones). Please ask if you would like to copy them. Don't think anyone would, but just in case please ask. Thanks!

Hi Kim --
That's a beautiful butterfly. Looks like it might be a swallow tail. One of God's wonders.
Aunt Jan

Reminds me of that book by Eric Carle, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."
I think all the insects in your neighborhood think your yard is the coolest place to hang out. You get some amazing pictures of them.
