Morgan

Here's the little girl for whom I asked for prayers for awhile back. She got to come home from Children's Mercy Hospital the day before Thanksgiving and is doing fine. She has another hole in her heart, but they aren't doing anything until May or June--no feeding tube anymore, either. Here she is at pottery class with her grandma and mom. They gave me permission to post their pictures. If Gracie will let me, I'll be able to post the one of Gracie holding Morgan with her eyes open later.

This was read at the service on Saturday night before I knew you were gone. Your immediate family's earth has been removed and they feel like the mountains have been carried into the sea.

I will miss you. I will pray for your immediate family to help move on with their lives when they are reminded each minute you aren't here. So many lives have been touched by your time here on earth.

Got to meet my new cousin on Thanksgiving day! She's about 2-months-old. Why do baby heads smell so good?

Christian commercialism

Went into Perfect Peace (a Christian bookstore) on Monday and felt a little uncomfortable. Why? With me being a Christian most of my life, why should I of all people feel uncomfortable in a Christian bookstore?

After seeing the life-sized cutout of Michael W. Smith for his new album, I realized it was the commercialism. That fake "buy this and you will be a better Christian" type of feeling. I know they need to advertise, but I don't have to like it.

Psalm 100

This was read at the service last night at Wheatland Mission (www.wheatlandmission.blogspot.com). I remember Charlie having us memorize it in Disciple Bible Study, but don't think I could recite it fully now. It just seems familiar. Maybe I need to strengthen that part of my brain more.

Oh yeah, a couple of years ago I bought some Navigator's book at at a used book sale and tried to memorize 5 different verses at once while I was on the treadmill...should try to look for it again.

Back to Psalm 100: I like the King James' version in verse 3 about it is He that made us and not we ourselves...The other versions just say "we are His".

Superficial postings

Apologies to the bloggers out there whose blogs I comment on, but then don't share my deepest, darkest feelings on my own blog. I commend you for putting your heart out there on the world-wide web, but I'm just not ready yet. For some reason, I want to keep my blog superficial and fluffy still but when you hit on a great topic I just want to pour out my heart. Thanks for letting me do it on your blogs.

Melanie's art at Java Nation plug

Check it out! Melanie has her artwork up at Java Nation on Douglas in Old Town including her new one about Psalm 137! One of Chloe's is up, too!

For those who don't know, Melanie is my friend/next-door neighbor. For my mom, No-I don't know the guy in the picture. He's just a customer...I thought you might ask. It's not a stupid question.

The coffee was good, too (or latte?). I had a Bellisima with caramel and vanilla and whipped cream or something. The guy asked if it was good, and I told him it was better than Quiktrip and I've only been to Starbucks twice and both times were in an airport and that the only fancy coffee I drink is usually hazelnut. I finally figured out what a barista was...Thought that was a new word like "hottie" or something at first.

Drive home

Yeah, that was me taking pictures out of my window in the car next to you. I thought no one noticed. It least I wasn't bored during the red lights.

Pottery

Please click to enlarge pics. There are others that I spent lots of time on, but they turned out ugly...oh well. Besides relearning how to throw on the potter's wheel, I'm getting used to the different glazes. Some run more than others...If you get too much on it will run and stick to the kiln shelf.

American accent

Oneness

With it being the day after election day, I think it's interesting that this one little devotion book that I just pulled out of the closet has "Oneness" listed for November 8th.

I will be in them, just as you are in me. I want them to be brought together perfectly as one. This will let the world know that you sent me. It will also show the world that you have loved those you gave me, just as you have loved me. John 17:22-23

What I'm getting out of this today besides relating it to the Christian body is that even though some of the people I voted for yesterday lost, I need to remember to feel the "oneness" of being a Kansan and even an American.

I'm still trying to get over the arena tax increase election outcome from two years ago, though. I'm trying, I'm trying.
